Around 150 pupils from our secondary schools attended New College Lanarkshire for a special event to encourage them to consider careers in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) subjects.
It was delivered in partnership with leading UK telecoms communication provider Commsworld and Glasgow-based charity SmartSTEMs, who have delivered a series of events over the past year to hundreds of pupils in order to foster innovation and inspire young minds.
The event featured a diverse range of exhibitors and workshops, offering students a unique opportunity to interact with leading professionals in their fields.
Also in attendance was North Lanarkshire Council Convener for Education, Children and Families, Cllr Angela Campbell. She said: “I was extremely pleased to see so many young people really engaged at this superb event and would like to thank Commsworld and SmartSTEMs for making it such a success. I hope that all those who took part were inspired at all the career opportunities that a STEM education can provide.”
Samantha Reymbaut, Commsworld Account Director, said: "We are delighted to have once more demonstrated to young people how enjoyable and inspiring it is to work in technology. Thanks to our partnership with SmartSTEMs, many hundreds of students have learned first-hand of the limitless possibilities available to them if they pursue a career in telecommunications and technology. We look forward to continuing this work throughout 2024.”
