Staff from our Inclusion Team received a visit from representatives from the Association of Directors of Education over three days in late November.

The Collaborative Improvement approach is something that all local authorities in Scotland take part in and it provides the opportunity to showcase the good work we are doing to support the development of inclusion in our schools.

North Lanarkshire is committed to ensuring all children and young people achieve their full potential; and to give them the tools to make their way in life through quality, exciting, and challenging learning.

The Inclusion Team’s key reflective question for this visit was:

“To what extent are we developing an inclusive pedagogy in North Lanarkshire Council that improves outcomes for learners with Additional Support Needs, enabling them to thrive within an appropriate learning environment?”

Among the report's many positive comments, the ADES team noted: ‘Very strong partnership working is intrinsic across education and social work and is a benefit of belonging to the one Service Directorate – Education and Families.

This was further highlighted in the recent report from the Children’s Services Inspection which attributed a 'very good' when it comes to to partnership working.’
