Residents of Coatbridge had a sweet surprise while tuning into Cadbury's latest national television advert. The iconic Corner Shop on Quarry Street is prominently featured as the 200-year-old establishment in Cadbury's newest advertising campaign. It marks the second time the shop has been chosen to star in one of Cadbury's campaigns.
Lanarkshire is no stranger to high profile productions from the much-loved Gregory’s Girl in Cumbernauld, to hit television series Outlander, which has its own studio at Wardpark and used Cumbernauld Glen as some of its North Carolina locations.
North Lanarkshire has been the location of several well-known television series in the last few years, including Vigil, Karen Pirrie, Scot Squad, Crime and Shetland.
Ideally situated between Glasgow and Edinburgh, and with excellent transport links to the Highlands, Lanarkshire offers a wide variety of picturesque natural, rural and built environments for filming. On the big screen, it has featured in notable films, The Batman, Tetris, The Last Bus and The Outlaw King.
Last year saw the opening of a new 32,000 sq. ft studio in Coatbridge – Nightsky, which has already hosted the latest series of comedy, Two Doors Down, as well as Black Mirror and Deadshot.
We are actively working to attract more filming to our area, recognising the significant economic benefits it can bring. Our dedicated film office, Lanarkshire Screen Locations, can help identify suitable locations, organise site visits, obtain permissions and facilitate access.
