Provost Kenneth Duffy recently hosted a civic reception for Edward McDowell, Children’s Panel Area Convener to recognise his outstanding contribution in volunteering to help with the work of the Panel in North Lanarkshire.
Edward is retiring from his role after a decade-long commitment to the Children's Hearings System (CHS) and helping to support some of the most vulnerable young people in our communities.
“Eddie has been an outstanding representative for the Children’s Panel here in North Lanarkshire. He is so highly thought of by everyone who has worked with him, and he can now enjoy a well-deserved retirement,” said Provost Duffy.
“He has been instrumental in fostering a supportive environment for Children's Panel Members in North Lanarkshire, and his dedication and professionalism to helping children and young people has been inspirational.
“Over the years, Eddie has worked tireless to ensure that panel members receive comprehensive training and support. His advocacy for children's rights has not only benefited our communities but has also resonated at the national level. Eddie’s legacy as a dedicated volunteer will continue to inspire positive change for years to come.”
The civic reception was attended by Edward’s wife Nancy, Elliot Jackson, National Convener and Chief Executive of Children's Hearings Scotland, Lynne Harrison, and Catherine Goodfellow from Children's Hearings Scotland and Members of the North Lanarkshire Area Support Team.
