Councillor Chris Costello, Children and Young People Champion for North Lanarkshire, visited the @Home Youth Centre based in Airdrie and met young people completing Youth Accreditation and Awards to enhance their skills and learning for employability.

Youth Work Week is an annual celebration of youth work across the UK and it’s an opportunity for youth work organisations, youth workers and young people to celebrate everything youth work.

Councillor Costello said: “Youth work plays a vital role supporting the needs of young people whilst ensuring they have equal access to services and that their voices are heard.

“It plays a crucial role in breaking down those barriers that young people experience, from education to mental health through to employability and equalities,

“I’d like to thank the youth work team for all that they provide and thank all the young people that take part in our youth groups and activities.”
