Four fun free fireworks displays

Events in Airdrie, Coatbridge, Cumbernauld and Motherwell

Strathclyde Park

The sky above Strathclyde Country Park will be lit up on Monday 5 November when the annual fireworks display takes place, organised by North and South Lanarkshire Councils.

The bonfire will be lit at 6.45pm and the fireworks display will start at 7.30pm.

A funfair, provided by M&Ds Scotland's Theme Park, will run from 4.30pm to 9.00pm near the Watersports Centre. X Factor semi-finalists Cutkelvins will headline the Clyde 1 roadshow which provides music and entertainment throughout the evening.

On Sunday 4 November, three events will take place from 7.30pm at:

  • Airdrie Leisure Centre
  • Dunbeth Park in Coatbridge, and
  • St Maurice's High School, Cumbernauld.

"Our free events are a great way to enjoy Guy Fawkes Night safely with some of the best fireworks displays in the area," said Robert Steenson, Executive Director for Enterprise and Communities.

"All four displays are organised in partnership with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, which recommends that people attend organised fireworks displays.

"We are encouraging residents to come along to one of our events for a fun, safe, family night out."

Visitors to the Strathclyde Country Park event are advised to allow plenty of time for their journey, to follow road signs and directions from police and marshals, and to park responsibly.

Sparklers are not allowed within the park, and visitors should dress appropriately for the weather.

Glow in the dark wristbands are available for children to wear at the four fireworks events to help in reuniting parents and children if they become separated. The bands will be available in advance at the Watersports Centre in Strathclyde Country Park and M&D's, as well as at the events themselves.
