Special uplift terms & conditions

 

Waste (electrical, non-electrical and bulky)

Introduction

In terms of Environmental Protection Act (EPA) 1990, the Controlled Waste Regulations (CWR) 1992 The special uplift service will be provided in accordance with the following terms and conditions:

Council obligations

We charge for this service.

We will provide a collection and disposal service for special uplift items on receipt of a valid request and payment.

We will provide details of your booking including the charge and the collection date and where to find these terms & conditions.

We will endeavour to collect items on the booked collection date. If we can’t we will send you an email detailing the rescheduled date

We will only collect the items listed on your booking.

We will treat your personal data as in line with our privacy policy.

We will dispose of or recycle the items in line with current Scottish Waste Guidelines and Legislation.

 We hold all appropriate Waste Management licences.

Customer obligations

The customer acknowledges and agrees that by placing a booking and providing payment, customers accepts these Terms and Conditions.

Customers can only select items from the lists.

Customers will make payment before the service is provided. Payment will be charged as detailed in the charges section of our Request a special uplift page.

Customers are required to place only the items detailed on booking out for collection.

Electrical items must be placed separately to other item as these will be collected by a different vehicle.

Items must be presented in a way as described on our Request a special uplift page.

Collection point

Items must be placed at the nearest point of collection for our vehicle. This is usually the closest point to the road.

Items must be placed in a manner that will not cause an obstruction or a hazard.

Collection date

The collection date will be detailed within the confirmation email you received.

Your payment receipt will be sent in a separate email.

Non-collection (service fault)

Non-collections may be due to operations reasons. Operational reasons include but are not limited to vehicle failure, resources issues, adverse weather conditions.

Where the collection could not be made due to operational reasons the customer will be notified by email and will receive an email advising the date of the new booking. We will endeavour to reschedule within seven days but in some cases the rescheduled date may be beyond this period. 

Non-collection (customer fault)

Customer reasons for uncollected items include but are not limited to items:

  • not presented by 7am on the morning of collection or at all
  • presented are not listed on the booking, considered a health and safety risk to collection crew
  • presented in an unsafe manner

In cases where the collection is only part completed due to customer reasons, we will collect correctly presented items only and will not reschedule to collect remaining items. 

The collection crew will take photographs before and after completion of the job. Photographs will be used as evidence to resolve any customer issues that may arise.

Charge

Charges are published on our Request a special uplift page.

Payment

Payments for collection must be made at the time of the booking.

Amendments

Booking dates can be amended up until 4pm the day before the collection day.

Customers cannot add items after the booking is complete. 

Cancellation

Cancellation for all bookings can be requested up to 4pm the day before the collection date.

The customer can only cancel their booking by logging into their myaccount.

Refunds

A refund will be provided in cases where the booking has been cancelled before 4pm the day before the appointment or if the collection was not possible to operational reasons.

When the customer is entitled to a refund the system will automatically process the refund.

The customer will receive the refund within 5 to 7 working days.
