Recycling centres

Service update

All recycling centres will be closed at the earlier time of 2pm on 24 December and 31 December. Last entry on these days will be 1.50pm.  You will be unable to book a van into the site between Sunday 22 December and Monday 6 January .

Sites will be closed on Wednesday 25 December and Wednesday 1 January.

Our sites are always very busy at this time of year, especially at peak times between 10am and 2pm, so please be aware that traffic management will be in place.

We operate six household waste recycling centres for North Lanarkshire residents.

Vehicular access only - no pedestrian access permitted.

You must bring photo identification and proof of your address when you visit a site.

The sites are open seven days a week including some public holidays (closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day).

They are only licensed to accept domestic household waste and cannot accept commercial waste.

If you are a business and need to dispose of commercial waste, you can find details of appropriately licensed sites online or consult a waste disposal directory.

Opening hours

Airdrie, Bellshill, Coatbridge, Cumbernauld and Netherton centres are open Monday to Saturday, 7am to 6pm and Sunday, 7am to 5.30pm.

Shotts is open Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm and Sunday, 8am to 5.30pm.

Last entry is ten minutes before closing time.

In order to improve recycling rates:

  • we ask residents to help recycling by placing material in the appropriate designated skip or container
  • recycling attendants will be on site to provide assistance
  • only household waste will be accepted (no commercial)
