Acceptable Use of IT Policy

We use Information Technology (IT) to deliver our services, carry out our statutory duties, and support our internal business functions. It’s critical in helping us work flexibly and efficiently. The Acceptable Use of IT Policy informs our users on how to use IT assets appropriately.

This policy provides a safe framework for using IT without exposing the council or our users to risks. It applies to everyone authorised to access or use our IT assets, who must:

  • comply with this policy; and
  • fulfil their role in assuring the security and integrity of council information and assets.

We carry out a range monitoring activities of our IT assets for compliance, security, operational, performance, and maintenance purposes. This policy aims to strike a balance between respect for individuals’ privacy and our monitoring obligations.
