As part of our support for communities and a commitment to equality, we offer free period products to anyone who needs them. To achieve this, we work in partnership with community planning partners, community organisations and the Scottish Government.

Locations

We now stock over 100 sites in our local community with access to free period products and we will continue to make products available in as many places as possible, and specifically through local community organisations, leisure facilities, community centres, libraries & health centres. For families with children products can be accessed in all schools and family learning centres.

New College Lanarkshire Students

If you are a student at New College Lanarkshire, period products are available to all students and staff for free on all campuses.

Alternatively, you can download The Scottish Government App (PickupMyPeriod) where you can access locations across Scotland:

If you have any issues accessing products and want to recommend a facility in your area that does not currently have a supply of free products or you would like to access a different type of period product, please email communitymatters@northlan.gov.uk

Anchor Organisations

Anchor organisations are different from our pickup sites as they offer goods on-site such as reusable sanitary products, along with single-use items as well.

This can range from pads & tampons to reusable period pants and cups. They also help to deliver goods out to their local communities for people who can’t access the site due to a variety of reasons. This is usually done by members of the centre using bicycles and electric bikes to deliver to homes in their local community.

The aim is to have one in each locality, currently, we have as follows:

  • Airdrie - Diamonds in the community
  • Bellshill - VIP Arts & Sports Academy
  • Coatbridge - Kirkshaws Neighbourhood Centre
  • Cumbernauld - Cornerstone House
  • Northern Corridor - Glenboig Development Trust
  • Shotts - Getting Better Together
  • Wishaw - Newmains Community Trust

We are currently aiming to bring more on board in other localities. These can be located using our NLC Directory map like with all of our other pickup sites and through the Pick Up My Period App.
