Public Space CCTV

We use CCTV to complement existing safety and security measures in public areas and buildings across North Lanarkshire.

We currently have over 1000 public space cameras, all of which are operated and monitored by our dedicated CCTV control room within the Community Safety Hub.

Our control room is one of the most advanced control systems in Scotland.CCTV covers a number of public space locations, including:

  • 7 Town centres
  • 33 Housing areas
  • 27 Tower blocks
  • 89 Low rise housing blocks
  • 9 Recycling and waste centres

We work in partnership with Police Scotland, with officers routinely working within our control room.

CCTV is designed to help to prevent and reduce crime and antisocial behaviour levels, environmental incidents and for public health and safety.

Environmental incidents include assisting our environmental team with littering and fly-tipping offences. This plays a key role in making communities safer and more pleasant places to live, to work and to visit.

More information on the use of CCTV can be found within our Privacy Notice for Public Space CCTV in North Lanarkshire which explains:
