Privilege school transport

We will grant applications for privilege school transport if there is spare capacity on an existing school contract.

Pick-up locations

School transport routes are determined by the pick-up locations needed for pupils who are entitled to free school transport. Pupils applying for a place will be allocated to a location. Parents/carers are responsible for making sure that their child gets to the designated pick-up location.

Parents/carers should encourage pupils to behave properly and safely when boarding, leaving and travelling on school transport. Misbehaviour could result in losing the right to travel.

Availability of privilege transport

Any available places will be allocated using the following criteria:

  • Children who receive a clothing grant and attend their designated catchment area school, with priority given to the youngest child.
  • Other children attending their designated catchment area school, with priority given to the youngest child.
  • Children attending the school by placing request and who receive a clothing grant, with priority given to the youngest child.
  • Other placing request children, with priority given to the youngest child.

Privilege seats will be allocated when all applications for pupils entitled to free school transport have been processed. The outcome of privilege school transport applications will be advised as soon as possible during this first school term of session. Seats can also be withdrawn at any time during the school session should it be required for pupils entitled to free transport.
