Educational visits and excursions

Excursions and visits, from short trips to local parks to overnight stays in foreign countries, are a valuable part of the educational experience.

Pupils have the opportunity to take part in experiences that are not available in the classroom or other learning environments.

Many excursions and outdoor activities by their nature have an element of risk. While we will try to ensure that risk is kept to a minimum, accidents can still occur.

In order to ensure the highest safety and security for pupils, formal planning takes place in advance of any outing. This involves a written risk assessment considering the dangers and difficulties which may arise, then introducing suitable and sufficient control measures to reduce them. If risks cannot be contained, or the programme modified, then the excursion would not take place.
