Support for local businesses

UK Shared Prosperity funding provides a series of interventions to support local businesses and investment across North Lanarkshire.

It will provide business grant funding to support the establishment and growth of new and existing businesses to complement the wider business support available. Specifically, UKSPF will provide support through the following programmes:

  • Business Start-Up Fund
  • Small Business and Self-Employed Support Scheme
  • Business Growth Fund
  • Expert Help
  • The Hive/Lanarkshire Women in Business.

More information on these and the wider support can be found on our Business Support web pages.

UKSPF has also provided the opportunity to develop enhanced strands of business support for particular types of businesses and to provide targeted entrepreneurial support.

In September we launched a Tourism Challenge Fund targeted at tourism businesses based in North Lanarkshire to support their long-term growth and increase visitor numbers to our area.Several enterprises received support to invest in the local community.

We are working with Inspirent and CEIS, who have a blend of local knowledge and Social Economy expertise, to support local social enterprises who will receive support through various events and workshops which will offer the latest thinking and market intelligence on the challenges for new and existing businesses face.

We are also working with the Scottish Asian Business Chamber to support the Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) community in North Lanarkshire. They can help potential entrepreneurs to navigate the way to success through tailored one-to-one support and free training sessions including marketing, videography and accountancy and support with applications for any relevant grants.
