People and Skills

We have a range of projects supporting our residents to help them move into or progress within the labour market.

These include Life Skills, Basic Skills, skills courses including Digital and Built Academies and support for young people with additional support needs with relevant vocational pathways to nationally recognised qualifications.

Some of the projects that we're working on for 'People and Skills' include:

  • Employment support for economically inactive, unemployed and underemployed residents of North Lanarkshire through Routes to Work. Support is tailored to you and can offer employability skills, support to gain accredited qualifications, CVs, Jobsearch, Interview Skills, confidence and motivation, health and wellbeing, and one-to-one support to help you move into or closer to the labour market.
  • Young Adult Learning Offer - this project delivers a programme of training and paid work placement within Community Learning and Development for young people aged 19 to 24 years. Placements involve youth work, secondary school partnership officers and the family learning and resettlement teams.
  • Training to support the development of the North Lanarkshire’s Skills Academies by providing training in construction and digital skills.
  • Sum It Up is a programme of free courses for those aged 16+ who would like to improve their number skills, or who need an SQA maths qualification.
