Coatbridge has been awarded £19.51m in funding from the UK Government to develop and deliver a Long-Term Plan for the town, setting out a vision for Coatbridge over the next ten years.
North Lanarkshire Council is the accountable body for this funding and we support the Coatbridge Town Board, which has responsibility for developing the Plan and overseeing its delivery through three-yearly Investment Plans.
The Board was established in April 2024 and is currently working to develop the Long-Term Plan for Coatbridge and an initial three-year Investment Plan, and has overseen extensive engagement with people in Coatbridge over the summer months.
The new UK Government has announced that the earlier submission deadline for the Long-Term Plan, of August 2024, has been extended to an as yet unspecified date.
The UK Government has confirmed in its recent budget that funding for the Long-Term Plan will proceed and that further guidance is expected to be issued by the end of the year.
The Board has now formally met on three occasions, with a fourth meeting scheduled for later in November, and a number of workshop sessions and engagement events have also been arranged, with good progress being made to develop a Long-Term Plan for Coatbridge in advance of updated guidance.
