This page will provide updates on the Compulsory Purchase Order that is being processed as part of the Millcroft regeneration project.
We are now promoting this Compulsory Purchase Order
The information is for those whose property interests are affected by the North Lanarkshire Council (Blocks C, D and E Millcroft Road, Cumbernauld) Compulsory Purchase Order 2023. Those affected will have received notices by letter direct to their registered addresses. To support the Regeneration of Millcroft Road, in November 2021, the council approved the making of a Compulsory Purchase Order for the 168 privately owned properties at Millcroft Road.
The CPO was submitted to the Scottish Government on 29 March 2023 for determination.
Following the conclusion of the Scottish Government Inquiry process last year, in October 2024 the Scottish Government Reporter provided a report, which was passed to the Scottish Ministers (who ultimately make the final decision on the CPO).
The Scottish Ministers have considered the merits of the Order and have reviewed all of the evidence presented.
Taking these considerations into account, the Scottish Government Ministers are satisfied that the Compulsory Purchase Order should be confirmed.
Find out more information about the CPO process, compensation and how it affects you on the Scottish Government website.
For those directly affected by the CPO, please see the following link to the Millcroft Road Newsletter which contains more details on next steps, compensation entitlement and rehousing options.
