Energy Efficiency Standard

For social housing in North Lanarkshire

The Energy Efficiency Standard for Social Housing (EESSH) aims to improve the overall energy efficiency of social housing.

EESSH is a standard based on a minimum Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of typically Band C or D depending on the type of property and fuel type.

The Scottish Government is developing a new energy standard for social housing which would replace the current EESSH standard and will be known as the Social Housing Net Zero Standard (SHNZS).

The new standard, when it is implemented, will involve a fabric energy rating focusing on the amount of energy for heat consumed by a property and a requirement to replace polluting heating systems with a clean heating alternative by 2045.

More information on EESSH and ESSH2 as well as details of the Scottish Government’s plans for improving the energy efficiency of privately rented and privately owned homes is available on the Scottish Government website.
