Street Astronomy
In partnership with the Airdrie Astronomical Association, Rediscovering Airdrie brought the observatory and its experts outside to meet the people of Airdrie. Clouds prevented us from seeing The Moon, but we experienced telescopes and discovered more about the observatory.
Participant Shailly said: "Thank you for all the Information. Kids really enjoyed it !!’. Lyndsey said, “Thank you for a lovely afternoon and helping us understand our telescope, what a lovely friendly, knowledgeable group”. Carolyn said, ‘Brilliant’, and volunteer astronomer Tony said, ‘We all had a great day meeting the public and promoting the club and Airdrie too."
Future Fridays
Young people from Airdrie Academy and St Margaret’s High School met in Airdrie Town Hall in an exciting opportunity for young people interested in graphic design and developing a brand.
Together, and with the guidance of the North Lanarkshire Council Graphic Design team, we examined graphic design, branding and developing a consistent look and feel for the Rediscovering Airdrie project. We explored Airdrie, expressed ourselves and new friendships were made.
Stories of Airdrie Leisure
In conversation with storyteller Allison Galbraith about leisure and past times in Airdrie. In partnership with the University of Strathclyde Oral History Centre.
