Litter

There’s no excuse for litter. Put rubbish in a public bin or take it home. It’s that simple.

Litter is an eyesore, it’s expensive to clean up, it can cause public health problems and is harmful to the environment.

Littering is also a criminal offence. If caught, you face an £80 Fixed Penalty Notice.

We have public bins in communities across North Lanarkshire which take all kinds of litter, including bagged dog waste.

If there’s not a bin handy when you’re out and about, take your litter home and put it in your household bin.

We have recently installed new large-capacity bins across communities and they are being monitored to ensure they are emptied frequently enough. If you have concerns about a litter bin, please report it:
