We (North Lanarkshire Council) are committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of any personal information that we hold. This privacy notice will explain how we look after your personal information and tell you about your rights.

The personal information we hold about you
Personal data, or personal information, means any information about an individual from which that person can be identified. It does not include data where the identity has been removed (anonymous data).

We may collect, store and use technical data including internet protocol (IP) address, your login data, browser type and version, time zone setting and location, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform and other technology on the devices you use to access this website and use age data including information on how you use our website and services.

- information about your racial or ethnic origin, political affiliations and opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, sex life or sexual orientation

We may also collect, store and use information about your criminal convictions and offences.
Where we need to collect personal information by law, or under the terms of a contract we have with you and you fail to provide that data when requested, we may not be able to perform the contract we have or are trying to enter into with you (for example, to provide you with services). In this case, we may have to cancel a service you have with us but we will notify you if this is the case at the time.

It is important that the personal information we hold about you is accurate and current. Please keep us informed if your personal information changes during your relationship with us.
How your personal information is collected
We use different methods to collect data from and about you:
- Information and service requests - if you request information or a service via email, letter or telephone, we may need your personal details to process that request. For example, you may give us personal information by filling in forms or by corresponding with us by post, phone, email, or otherwise. This includes personal information you provide when you apply for our services.
- Online forms - there are a range of online forms to allow you to make comment, request particular services, report a problem or pay a bill. Some forms are available to fill in anonymously, where others require you log in and provide your details. If you are required to provide personal information we will use it only to process your request and thereafter in accordance with the purposes for which the services are provided.
- Technical data - to help us monitor website trends and statistics, our web server automatically collects visitor information such as IP address, city or country of origin, type of browser and operating system used, pages visited and duration of the visit. We collect this personal information by using cookies, and other similar technologies. You can set your browser to refuse all or some cookies or to alert you when websites set or access cookies. If you disable or refuse cookies, please note some parts of this website may become inaccessible or not function properly.
- Mailing lists - as part of the subscription process for our e-bulletins, we collect personal information. We use that information to tell you about services you've asked us about and to check every now and then that you're happy and satisfied.
We don't rent or trade email lists with other organisations and businesses.
We use a third-party service provider, Granicus GovDelivery Communications Cloud, to deliver our e-bulletins. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry-standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-bulletins. For more information, please see the GovDelivery privacy notice. You can unsubscribe to general mailings at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails.
- Other sources of data We may receive personal information about you from various third parties and public sources (such as Companies House and the Electoral Register).
Purposes for which we will use your personal information
We will only use your personal information when it is lawful to do so.
We will use your personal information to comply with our legal responsibilities and to provide you with our services. This includes:
- providing services related to housing, education, social care and health, planning and building, recycling, leisure and culture, jobs and training, licensing and regulatory activities, trading standards and food safety
- collecting Council Tax payments, school payments, rent and business rates payments
- the administration and enforcement of parking regulations and restrictions
- the provision of commercial services
- making payments of benefits and grants
- responding to problems reported by you, for example, housing repairs, missed bin collections, pest problems and road and footpath repairs

We may process your personal information for more than one lawful ground depending on the specific purpose for which we are using your data
Generally, we will rely on consent as a legal basis for processing your personal information to send direct marketing communications to you via email or text message. You have the right to withdraw consent to marketing at any time by contacting us.
Change of purpose

We require all third parties to respect the security of your personal information and to treat it in accordance with the law. We do not allow our third-party service providers to use your personal information for their own purposes and only permit them to process your personal information for specified purposes and in accordance with our instructions.

How long we will hold your personal information
We will only retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.
To determine the appropriate retention period for personal information, we consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the personal information, the potential risk of harm from unauthorised use or disclosure of your personal information, the purposes for which we process your personal information and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means, and the applicable legal requirements.

Mobile App privacy policy
The Mobile app "Visit DCP", developed by Brilliant Trails does not access, collect, use or share any of personal and sensitive user data.
Our app makes use of automatically collected information using the device camera and the TrueDepth API provided by Apple. The only use of this information is to track the user's head and face so that the user can control the AR experience and the selfie filters by moving their device and their head. None of the information collected by the TrueDepth API ever leaves the user's device nor is it persistently stored on the device.
