Biodiversity - get involved

You can help to protect our biodiversity

Even small steps can make a big difference and there are many ways you can help your local biodiversity.

Did you know you can create a garden for wildlife?

There are lots of different actions you can take in your garden at home or in your local area, such as making a bat box or planting fruit or vegetables that are good for wildlife, as well as tasty for you.

The Wildlife Trust has lots of great ideas on how to create a garden for wildlife and has a downloadable guide to wildlife gardening.

Bird surveys

There are two different bird surveys that we would like your help with for Swifts and Willow Tits. Have you seen them in your area recently?

By knowing where these birds are seen in North Lanarkshire we can target action to protect and enhance their declining populations.

Volunteering

Another great way to get involved involved is by volunteering. You could be involved in a range of activities such as practical conservation work, surveying and recording or helping out at events on local green spaces.

Email greenspace@northlan.gov.uk if you are interested in volunteering.
