Drumpellier Nursery Complex

Hosting a selection of various tropical and temperate plant species with very fine specimens of Cycad palms

To add diversity there are two ornamental gardens attached to the complex which host many visitors for wedding photographs (see related articles).  One of these gardens, the Peace Garden, underwent major redevelopment work which was completed in September 2008. Within the main glass house there is a water feature housing red eared terrapins.

The glasshouse units consist of eight clearspan houses with a total area of 1168 m2. Last year (2010) the unit produced 312 hanging baskets, 80,000 summer bedding, 60,000 spring bedding, 17,000 house/flowering plants giving a total production of 157,000 plants.

Talks on horticulture and various interesting slide show presentations can be requested from this complex. The unit is hosting a new initiative of Horticultural Therapy where groups from local community come along and participate in several general gardening tasks such as sowing seeds or potting on, which in turn assists in bringing a tranquil outlook to life.

Floral decorations are arranged with various props constructed and incorporated into the decoration giving a new and inspired look to this once municipal forte.
