Cleland Primary School - Outside View

At Cleland we aim to provide a high quality learning experience based on well planned programmes of study, tailored to meet the needs and interests of our pupils, in line with the principles of the Curriculum for Excellence.

Our vision, created with all stakeholders, is to develop achieving, confident, enthusiastic, happy children within a fun, stimulating and nurturing environment. Children are encouraged to take pride in their work, show respect for others and value themselves and the contribution they make to school life and the wider community.

The success experienced by our pupils is a result of their own hard work, enthusiasm and determination, the commitment and skill of the teaching staff and the support from home. We encourage a close partnership between home and school by creating opportunities for parents to become actively involved in their child's school life.

The accommodation comprises of six classrooms, a school hall, cooking kitchen, main office, staff-room, principal teacher's room, head teacher's office. The dining room is housed in a separate building adjacent to the school and has a small library/learning support room attached to it.

At present there are nine members of teaching staff including the principal teacher and head teacher. In addition there is one full time clerical assistant and one additional clerical assistant, one day a week. There is also one classroom assistant, one additional support needs assistant and two cleaner janitors.

Pupils normally transfer from primary to secondary between the ages of 11.5 and 12.5 so that they will have the opportunity to complete at least four years of secondary education. Pupils from Cleland Primary normally transfer to Coltness High School

Excellent partnership links have been established with the other cluster schools associated with Coltness High School and with the high school itself. There are a variety of transition events throughout the year at which the cluster schools all attend. In addition all children in Primary seven, in the cluster, have the opportunity to attend Kilbowie Outdoor centre in Oban, at the same time.

Further information about the school can be found by visiting the school website.
