The centre is staffed by a Head of Centre, a Depute Head of Centre, a Senior Early Learning Practitioner, 11 Early Learning Practitioners, two Clerical Assistants, two caretakers and cleaning staff.  All our early learning staff are qualified to national standards and have access to continuous professional development.

In line with North Lanarkshire Council's admission policy the centre can accommodate: six children aged 0-2 years, 10 children aged 2-3 years and 48 children aged 3-5years.

Our accommodation is spacious and bright and has well-designed indoor and outdoor play areas, which enable the children to participate in a wide range of learning opportunities.  Staff plan using North Lanarkshire's Effective Early Development and Learning, Positive Outcomes Pre Birth to Three and The Curriculum for Excellence, linking these to Building The Ambition documentation.

Engagement with parents and carers is an essential aspect of our work as we strive to continue to create the conditions that will allow every child to achieve their full potential.

The nursery works in partnership with support agencies and local primary and secondary schools within the local community.  In partnership with community Learning and Development, we offer a range of courses and groups for parents to participate in.

We have close links with the local primary schools, which are Newmains Primary and NurseryMorningside Primary and St Brigid's Primary.

At Newmains Family Learning Centre, we want to ensure all children are given every opportunity to thrive throughout their time with us.  We see everyone as a learner for life and we hope that none of you will ever lose the enthusiasm and excitement that learning provides.  This is clearly encompassed in our vision for the nursery and it's community.

Newmains Family Learning Centre's vision is to ensure that all children are:

Successful Individuals

We will ensure children's rights are at the heart of all we do.

Newmains Family Learning Centre will, in partnership with the local authority, parents/carers and the wider community, deliver a broad, balanced, stimulating and challenging curriculum, which will expose our children to learning experiences which will help them become successful learners, confident individuals, effective contributors and responsible citizens.

In order to apply for a place within Newmains Family Learning Centre, an application form must be completed (these are available from any nursery or can be downloaded) and sent to your first choice nursery with the child's birth certificate and proof of address i.e. current council tax statement.

All children under three years of age require an inter-agency Request For Assistance to support their application.  This will be identified by a health visitor, doctor or other support agency to see if the circumstances meet the criteria.
