Support for economic recovery

We are supporting local businesses to reopen safely, in line with coronavirus guidance.

A one-stop web page has been set up with guidance from council services and other agencies, as well as a dedicated email address - businesssupport@northlan.gov.uk - for businesses looking for detailed advice.

Specific information is available for each business sector, with links to trade and professional bodies, checklists, forms and the advice they need to reopen safely, for both employees and customers.

"We understand there are a host of issues for every business to address before they can reopen safely, and we want to make it as straightforward as possible," said Councillor Allan Graham, Convener of the Enterprise and Growth Committee.

"Businesses had to close their doors very quickly at the start of lockdown, but reopening is far more complicated as they must have physical distancing in place for customers and staff, as well as PPE, increased hygiene and cleaning regimes.

"We have brought together guidance on issues such as licensing, trading standards and planning as well as from trade and professional bodies and other public agencies. This will support businesses to reopen as quickly as they can, providing services and products to the public and getting staff back to work. This will be the first steps on the road towards economic recovery and future growth for North Lanarkshire."
