Advice and Enforcement for businesses

Enforcing coronavirus restrictions on businesses

The Council's Environmental Health and Trading Standards service has enforcement powers under the Health Protection (Coronavirus) (Restrictions)(Scotland) Regulations 2020 to ensure that social distancing and other mitigating measures are in place for businesses that are permitted to trade and for ensuring that businesses prohibited from opening only do so in accordance with Scotland's phased approach through and out of the COVID-19 crisis.

If you have any concerns about businesses that are open or issues relating to social distancing and, where applicable, other mitigating measures please contact our team by email to tradingstandards@northlan.gov.uk or using our online form.

We have produced materials for businesses to download and print to help implement physical distancing guidance.

Advice is also available from Food Standards Scotland for food businesses.
