Improve your employment opportunities

Jobs events hailed a success

North Lanarkshire's Working

A series of jobs fayres, culminating with the recent Motherwell event, saw hundreds of people and businesses come together to improve employment opportunities for North Lanarkshire's residents.

Over 35 employers, from large and medium sized companies to small and new businesses just setting up in the area, supported the events led by North Lanarkshire's Working. As well as the companies highlighting their businesses, a vacancy wall was one of the talking points of the fayres. More than 500 people came along to talk to experts, find out about suitable vacancies and learn tips to help them improve their employment prospects.

The feedback from these events has been really positive.

One of the local businesses that took part was PeddleSMART, an Urban Freight Transport Company. Chairman and CEO, Adam Reid, said: "Thanks to the team at North Lanarkshire Council for running this event, which was well organized and well attended. As a start-up company in the region we really appreciate the support, and we look forward to maintaining a close working relationship as we develop our UK and international market.

"The event and the quality of the experience of those that attended exceeded our expectation. We received interest from 31 people who would be keen in joining us on our journey to bring zero-carbon vehicles to the UK market and positively impact climate change. The skillset and experience as expected covered the spectrum, but I would expect that several of those that expressed an interest will be offered roles in the business."

Paul Kane, Employability Services Manager added: "We have been delighted with the success of our job fayres and want to take this opportunity to thank the people that made them possible. From our staff, to the businesses who supported the events and to the local people who came along to find out about job vacancies in their area.

"Our service is available throughout the year for people looking for help and advice, so you don't need to come along to events. To find out more and start your journey into employment check out North Lanarkshire's Working website."
