Coatbridge Tower Improvements

Investment programme

Coatbridge towers

Residents living in tower blocks in Coatbridge will soon be seeing substantial improvements works to their buildings.

Significant renovation will be taking place at Blairgrove and Merryston Court and Glen and Millbrae Court.

The wide-ranging improvement programme will include:

  • new windows being installed;
  • new cladding systems;
  • upgrading of entrances and surrounding areas;
  • new lighting systems being fitted;
  • individual flat sprinklers and new fire doors being installed;
  • extensive redecoration of communal areas; and
  • the installation of electrical vehicle and mobility vehicle charging points

Heather McVey, Convener of Communities and Housing said: "As part of our long-term ambitious tower re-provisioning programme, we made the commitment to continue investing in our existing stock.

"Since 2016 we have been carrying our structural surveys of all our towers and identified associated improvement works. This latest contract of works will provide modern improvements for our tenants' and will hugely improve the look, safety and feel of these tower blocks."

The programme of works is expected to begin later this year and residents in the blocks will be kept informed as works progress.

The council's tower re-provisioning programme will see the demolition of blocks across North Lanarkshire over the next 25 years. The towers at Blairgrove and Merryston Court and Glen and Millbrae Court will be included in one of the later phases of this programme.
