In the Making - Creative Residency 2018

Pupils' stunning artwork goes on display at Summerlee Museum

Talented pupils from schools across North Lanarkshire are the focus of the 15th annual Creative Residency exhibition at Summerlee Museum in Coatbridge.

North Lanarkshire Council's Creative Residency programme is open to S4 pupils who are interested in 3-D design, creative writing, printmaking, drawing and painting, music, digital photography and drama.

Pupils are given the chance to take part in taster sessions before they apply for a week-long arts residency under the guidance of expert tutors at Kilbowie Outdoor Centre near Oban. The exhibition is the culmination of their time at the centre.

Cllr Frank McNally, Convener of Education, said: "We are very proud of the talents of the young people who live in our area and I'd encourage people to come along and see the high-quality artwork on display.

"We are grateful to everyone associated with the programme tutors, teachers and parents for all their support."

The exhibition opened on Thursday 17 of January and will run for the next few weeks.
