Schools' Christmas Concert 2018

Talented pupils from across North Lanarkshire hit the high notes at this year's concerts


Hundreds of pupils took part in the annual event, treating the audience of parents, councillors and other guests to some festive cheer.

The shows were held over two evenings (Monday 10 and Tuesday11 December) in the Motherwell Concert Hall.

Councillor Frank McNally, Convener of Education, said: "I'd like to thank everyone involved, especially our music tutors who worked tirelessly to make our Christmas concerts possible and resulted in a truly spectacular event.

"I'd also like to give special thanks to Angus Simpson for taking time out of his busy schedule to present our concerts."

The Junior String Orchestra was conducted by Kay Searle, the Symphony Orchestra by Christopher Mutch, the Jazz Orchestra by Chris Cruikshank and the Wind Ensemble by John Miller. The NL Collective were directed by Michael Paterson and Graeme Smillie.

The chorus was conducted by Val Moyes MBE, the Wind Band by Ross McQueen, the Preparatory Band by Grant Golding and the Traditional Music Group by Andrew Lamb.

The NL Pipe band was led by Pipe Major Ross Cowan along with Lead Drummer, Steven Nelson.
