Lord Lieutenant backs appeal

Lady Haughey

Lord Lieutenant of Lanarkshire Lady Susan Haughey is backing efforts to recognise the tremendous efforts of local charities across Lanarkshire.

A national day to highlight the work of local charities is taking place across the UK on Friday 14 December and is supported by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.

Lady Haughey said: "We have many wonderful charitable organisations across Lanarkshire which make such a vital contribution to the lives and well-being of local people and our communities.

"The Queen's Award for Voluntary Services Local Charities Day gives those communities and businesses the opportunity to recognise the outstanding efforts of people who volunteer their time and make life-changing contributions for the benefit of others."

Local charities are being encouraged to take part by adding their details to their the Local Charities map https://localcharitiesdaymap.co.uk/ and by using the social media hashtag #LocalCharitiesDay
