Volunteering with Active Schools

Further information on volunteering with Active Schools

Giving up your time to help others is one of the most rewarding things you can do in life. Although you don't get paid, the experience is priceless. It's also been shown that volunteers are among the healthiest and happiest people in society.

Volunteers are at the heart of all Active Schools programmes in North Lanarkshire. There are already almost 1400 people who give up their time to help across a range of sports and activities. They include parents, teachers, coaches, students and senior pupils. Together they provided 22,000 sports sessions last year.

If you would like to help young people get the most out of sport there are dozens of ways to get involved. We have opportunities to suit everyone whatever your interests, availability or experience. There are a number of roles available from coaching and administration to supervision and more.

All North Lanarkshire Active Schools volunteers are given guidance and support including:

  • Access to pdf icon training [436kb], including SCUK and NGB qualifications
  • A Volunteer's Handbook
  • Volunteer kit
  • Mentoring and support
