Drumgelloch is a Victorian and Edwardian residential area with a diverse range of building types and forms and examples of fine architecture. The area developed alongside the Glasgow to Edinburgh road to the east of Airdrie. When the turnpike road via Airdrie and Bathgate opened in 1795 the modern street pattern was created.

Our pdf icon Drumgelloch Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan [2Mb] provides a detailed appraisal of the buildings and spaces which contribute to the unique character of the conservation area. The plan is set out to preserve and enhance the conservation area and guide development proposals.  We have also produced more general conservation area guidance within pdf icon SPG 31 [707kb].
