Licensing and safety at sports grounds

We provide an advisory service to the licensing board.

Licensing:

The building standards service acts in an advisory role to the council's licensing board.  Premises we may be asked to inspect and comment on include public houses, restaurants, off licences, houses of multiple occupancy and second hand dealers premises.  We give comment relating to many aspects of the premises relevant to the safety and welfare of the building users.

Section 50:

You may apply to us for a certificate of suitability under Section 50 of the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005.

Section 89:

You may apply to us for a Section 89 certificate for a raised structure at a height of more than 600mm above ground level, under Section 89 of the Civic (Government) Scotland Act.

Please note, the certificate of inspection form may only be required for complex structures so we recommended that you contact us before you fill it in.

Safety at Sports Grounds:

The building standards service is responsible for providing advice and guidance on safety at sports grounds, in relation to:

  • crowd control
  • means of escape
  • structural stability
  • access for disabled

Please contact us if you have any questions.
