Advice and support for consumers
Consumer advice for residents of North Lanarkshire is now provided by government-funded Advice Direct Scotland, a telephone and online consumer advice service, which is supported by local authorities in Scotland.
Contact the Advice Direct Scotland helpline on 0808 164 6000 if you need help - a trained adviser can give you advice over the phone.
Working in partnership with our Trading Standards Service, Advice Direct Scotland provides first level, clear, practical consumer advice to help people sort out their problems and disagreements with suppliers of goods and services. Their trained advisers offer individual solutions for individual problems and information on a wide range of consumer issues
We do not have sufficient resources to fully investigate every complaint and adopt an intelligence-led approach to enforcement of consumer protection legislation. This allows us to focus our work on those issues which can maximise our impact for the benefit of the community
The policy for dealing with complaints is set out in our service policy.
For comprehensive information for consumers, businesses and practitioners on their rights and obligations in relation to parcel delivery, please visit the Delivery Law website.
Further consumer information can be found on the Consumer Advice Scotland website
A good source of information if you have a complaint regarding a consumer issue is the Which website where you will find lots of letter templates than can be used to pursue your complaint.
Our Trading Standards team have information and advice for you on a range of consumer issues and scams related to the current coronavirus pandemic.
If you want to report a scam or need advice, please contact our partner Advice Direct Scotland.
They also have useful information to help you if your holiday, or a ticketed event you had paid to attend, has been cancelled.
