Fair Trade

North Lanarkshire has been awarded North Lanarkshire Fairtrade Zone Status in recognition of the support and awareness the local schools, churches, businesses and communities have given to Fairtrade products. We are committed to promoting and raising awareness of Fair Trade across our region.

Fair Trade Fortnight

Fairtrade Fortnight is running from 9-22 September and posters are downloadable for local events.

We aim to build on the Fair Trade Zone Status achieved so far, through our North Lanarkshire Fair Trade Steering Group. We are working with the local communities and local businesses to encourage the uptake in trade of Fair Trade products to their customers, clients and staff. This can be in the form of Fair Trade-certified tea, coffee and sugar.

The group has also identified local business Brakes as the flagship employer and we are working closely with them to ensure the messages are being communicated to their partners and staff.

For further information on Fairtrade and the benefits of being a Fair Trade Zone, please visit Fair Trade Foundation.
