Civil ceremonies

Your marriage or civil partnership is a special day and we will help make the ceremony unique and personal to you.

Arranging your civil ceremony

As soon as you have a date for your ceremony you should contact one of our registration offices. You can then discuss the date, time and venue of your ceremony. We can also discuss with you what you want to include in your ceremony.

Where can the ceremony take place?

You can have your ceremony in any of our registration offices or in another place we have approved for ceremonies.

Documents you need to provide

Both parties must complete and send in a notice M10 form at least 28 days before the ceremony and no more than three months before. We recommend eight to 10 weeks' notice.

You can download the forms at I want to get married in Scotland on the National Records of Scotland website. This website contains helpful information on what to do before getting married in Scotland including any legal requirements.

How much does it cost?

You must pay for your ceremony when you book it. We cannot refund this fee. The cost of a ceremony depends on the day, time and location you want to have the ceremony.

Weekdays £155 to £238 £330
